Specialties Wines – Pure Expression of Origin

These “Specialties” wines reflect Viña Errázuriz’s exploration of the Aconcagua Valley for the best and purest expression of each variety, through wines that show their true sense of origin. Two geographical landmarks define this line: Mount Aconcagua, the highest peak in the Western Hemisphere, and the Pacific Ocean, home to the coldest waters in the world. Aconcagua Alto comes from the highest area of the Aconcagua Valley, while Aconcagua Costa is located just 12 km from the Pacific Ocean.

Winemaking & Terroir

Appellation: Aconcagua Valley

Soils: Colluvial origin, loamy to clay-loam texture – excellent drainage and low vigour control

Ageing: 18 months in French oak barrels (25% new)

Alcohol: 13.5%

Tasting Notes

Deep ruby red with violet glints. The nose reveals black cherries, cassis, raspberries, followed by cocoa, truffle, clove, vanilla, and a finish reminiscent of tobacco. Juicy and refreshing, with vibrant acidity lifting red fruit notes, beautifully complemented by sweet pastry, chocolate, and dried fruit nuances from oak ageing. The palate is defined by very fine, soft tannins that provide structure and volume, leading to a long, persistent finish.

Vintage Notes

The 2021 season was marked by a cool summer with below-average temperatures and cloudy days. Despite late-January rains, only 21 mm fell in inland Aconcagua, resulting in a long, gentle ripening period – producing fresh, elegant, and aromatic wines.
